Many experiments need acoustic signals. By default PXL programs look for an Adlib compatible sound device like "Soundblaster" and use it for sound output if it is available. If no sound device is found then the PC's internal speaker is used for sound output. The global parameter sounddevice may be used to explicitly select a sound device. If sounddevice is 1 then the PC speaker is used and if it is 2 then the Adlib device is used. The value 0 selects the (automatically detected) default device.
